The small country boat fitted with a motor, capsized in strong wind on Sunday night. The deceased are identified as Dani and Cristofer, both natives of Puthenthura. Three fishermen of the same boat suffered injuries and were admitted to District Hospital, Kollam, under critical condition.
Since the trawling ban is in force from 15 June to 31 July, the fisherfolk are dependent on small-scale pelagic fishing for livelihood. But the turbulent sea and heavy rain make it riskier for the fishers.
