Kerala youth tortured by police for wearing low waist jeans

In a shocking incident, a youth has alleged that he was subjected to third-degree torture by police for wearing low waist jeans near Anchal in Kollam on Thursday. 

According to Anish, he had gone to the police station to get a clearance certificate on Thursday morning and was waiting to give the application to Sub Inspector (SI) Priju when the SI noticed him wearing low waist jeans. The cop shouted at him and beat him black and blue.

When Anish's friends heard his screams they rushed to the room and found the Anish lying on the floor. The policemen later asked Anish's friends to take him to another room and made them stand there for hours. 

After hours of ordeal, when the men finally got out of the police station, Anish complained of severe uneasiness and was admitted to nearby hospital. Anish says he was not dressed obscene and is the only breadwinner of the family.

Anish has lodged a complaint with Anchal Circle Inspector following which the SI is now transferred to Pathanamthitta. 

After the incident, the DYFI staged a protest before the station.
