A case has been registered against the policeman who hit a motorist with a wireless set. City Police Commissioner had suspended the policeman after the incident created a furore. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had condemned the attack and reprimanded the police department.
A criminal case has been filed against the policeman who allegedly hit a motorist with a wireless set during a vehicle inspection at Kollam last week.

Mash Das, an officer with AR Camp Kollam who is under suspension after the attack on the motorist will face charges under IPC 326 (for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.)
The action against the policeman comes three days after the incident that evoked a huge public outcry demanding justice for Santhosh Felix, the motorist who is undergoing treatment at a hospital at Kollam. The Kollam East police registered the case and took statement of Felix on Monday.

After visiting Felix at Kollam district hospital, Police Complaints Authority Chairman Justice Narayana Kurup told media persons that the government should take care of the medical treatment of the victim.

"The policeman is a state government official. So, the state is responsible (for the incident) and must bear the medical expenses," said Kurup.
The shocking incident of police brutality in the name of helmet hunting took place on Friday when Felix along and his two-year-old child was rushing to a hospital where his mother was undergoing treatment. Felix was stopped by traffic policemen who were conducting routine vehicle inspection. The motorist stopped the vehicle a few yards away, much to the chagrin of the policeman who hit him with a wireless set.
