Congress leader extortion call Ravi Poojary

HM Revanna, the senior Congress leader, who is expected to get a plum position in the Karnataka government, has filed a complaint with the local police that underworld don Ravi Poojari has been making extortion calls to him.

In his complaint Revanna told the police that Poojary had demanded ₹10 crore, else he will kill his actor-son Anup. The senior leader's son latest movie is set to be released in the coming weeks.

Poojary allegedly also said that he will ensure that Anup’s new movie “Lakshmana” does not get released, Revanna said in his complaint.

Revanna has lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner N.S. Megharikh after he received the phone call on May 11.

Revanna said that he was in Belgaum when he got the call from a man claiming to be underworld don Poojary. The case now have been transferred to the Mahalakshmi Layout police station and the CCB police have been asked to launch an investigation.

“We are not land developers, nor business persons. My son has acted in a high budget movie. Hence they are demanding money. He tried to give his bank account details, but I did not take the details. I shouted at him and cut the phone call,” Revanna told the press.

“He again called me two more times. I don’t give a damn about such people. Police have provided high security to me and to my son and also to the movie director Chandru,” he added.
