Jaya’s niece: They didn’t let me see my aunt, stopped me at the gate

  • Jaya's niece Deepa tried to meet her aunt on Wednesday.
  • She was denied entry into the hospital.
CM Jayalalithaa relatives denied from visiting her

It has been over 13 days since the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals, since then not even one blood relative of Jayalalithaa has visited her. But those who tried were not even let into the hospital.

The 40-year-old Deepa told Times of India that she felt there was something fishy in all the "secrecy."

"I want to hold her hand and say she will be fine, but they wouldn't allow me anywhere near," said Deepa told TOI.

Deepa is the daughter of Jayalalithaa's brother Jayakumar.

The family's relations turned sour ever since the grand wedding of Jayalalithaa's foster son VN Sudhakaran in September 1995.

Jayalalithaa did visit Deepa's family, who live in T Nagar residence when the CM's brother Jayakumar passed away in 1995.

The step-brother of Jayalalithaa, NJ Vasudevan who lives in a village 35km from Mysuru, earlier had told the national newspaper that he wanted to see his sister once  before his death.

The hospital earlier this week had announced that the CM was responding well to the treatment. The 68-year-old AIADMK leader is being treated on the second floor.

Only patients or a staff member of the famous hospital are allowed to go in after showing an identity card. The entire hospital has turned into a high security zone.
