The city police have arrested a construction labourer, who raped a teen, on the pretext of offering her hot sumptuous food.


The 28-year-old accused was picked by the Sanjay Nagar police from Kalaburagi. According to the Bangalore Mirror report, the accused is a construction worker and used to scout around the city looking for victims.

The BM report found that the accused even had borrowed a Maruthi 800 from his friend and used to go around the labour sheds in areas such as Yelahanka, Hebbal and Sanjay Nagar.

M Mallikarjuna on March 2 lured the 13-year-old from Sanjay Nagar. She was standing outside the temporary shed where the family used to live. The victims parents are construction workers from Tamil Nadu and the family now has left he city.

The girl, who was famished, asked the accused for some money, so Mallikarjuna promised to take her to a wedding where she can get hot food. He then drove her to Rajankunte area near Yelahanka-Doddaballapur road and raped her.

The accused then dropped the victim back to Sanjay Nagar and returned the car to his friend, before fleeing the city.

Later the girl narrated the horror to her parents, who then filed a case. The girl had noted down, the car's four digit registration number and the police through CCTV track him down.

The accused now has been booked under Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
