Political feud: seven-year-old stabbed in Kannur

child fall victim to political rivalry in Kannur

A seven-year-old boy fell a hapless victim of political rivalry and sustained stab injuries on his hand at Iritty in Kannur, the politically sensitive district notorious for mindless acts of violence in the past. Political rivals came looking for Rahul, a BJP supporter, on Monday evening but when they failed to find him, they allegedly vent their anger on his son Karthik,7, inflicting a deep cut on his hand with a sharp weapon.

Karthik, a second standard student, was admitted to Thalasserry Indira Gandhi Co-operative Hospital after the attack.

The boy's family said that they received a phone call asking for Rahul on Monday evening and by 7.30 pm a three-member gang stormed the house searching for him. When they could not find Rahul, they attacked the child.

The child’s parents have alleged that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) was behind the attack.  BJP district president P Satya Prakash alleged that the CPM has turned so inhuman that they do not even spare children. Meanwhile, CPM area secretary denied political rivalry and blamed it on family feud.

BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan tweeted that the attackers belonged to CPM and extended support to the family.
