Saifudheen, 40, a native of Kandanakam, is a known child abuse prevention counsellor who used to impart classes among parents and children against exploitation of children. He is also running a trust which organises classes against harassment of children.

The incident took place a day after he took a class held by the trust working against abuse of children. The Childline volunteers said the incident took place on Sunday. Saifudheen approached the boy who was on his way to a nearby shop and lured him by offering study material. He then took the 14-year-old to his house and molested the kid after locking him inside a room.

Upon hearing the cries of the boy, Saifudheen's wife came to the rescue of the minor.

The boy informed his parents who filed a complaint with Ponnani police. By the time police registered the case and began search, Saifudheen absconded from the place.
