The Congress and the BJP criticized the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’statement that everything was safe and peaceful in the state. Within hours after the CM’s statement in New Delhi, an RSS worker was hacked to death in Kannur allegedly by activists of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM.)
Leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala blamed that CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Kummanam Rajasekharan for inciting violence in the Kannur. He also lashed out at Pinarayi Vijayan for his false claim that law and order situation in the state was safe. Within hours after Vijayan released his statement, an RSS worker was murdered at Thillankery in Kannur, triggering fears that the district notorious for political revenge killings might lapse into blood bath again.
"Chief Minister should open his eyes to the reality on the ground. After the Left front came to power in Kerala, the instances of violence and murder have increased. As many as 62 murders have been reported in the first 100 days of the LDF government,” Chennithala said.
In order to maintain law and order, the BJP-led coalition which is ruling the centre and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by CPM should rein in their party workers, demanded the former Home Minister .
Meanwhile, the BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan alleged that the CPM was creating provocation to instigate a riotous situation in the state. “The CPM is provoking the RSS to create a riot in the state so that the government could cover up its utter failure,” he said. The CPM is playing with fire. But the BJP-RSS workers should keep calm and should not to be provoked by the CPM’s tactics, the BJP leader said.
