The Chennai police have arrested a city-based nutritionist Dr Rama Seetha of Perambur, after she claimed in a public meeting that former Tamil Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was brought dead to the Apollo hospital.

The police arrested Dr Seetha based on a complaint filed by the management of the Apollo hospital, where Jayalalithaa was admitted on September 22, Times of India reported.

A few weeks back during a public meeting held by supporters of Deepa Jayakumar, niece of Jayalalithaa, Dr Seetha made the shocking revelation.

Police now have registered a case against her under IPC Sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 153 (deliberately giving provocative statement with intent to cause riot) and 505 (statement conducive to public mischief).Â
