Minister to stay on for 10 days after being dropped from Cabinet

Cabinet rejig: Karnataka minister yet to resign, requests 10 more days

After the cabinet reshuffle yesterday, BJP member of parliament GM Siddeshwara among four other ministers from Karnataka were dropped from the cabinet.

According to sources, Siddeshwara hasn't resigned yet and will put down his papers only after ten days.

BJP president Amit Shah had briefed him about the cabinet expansion and had asked him to submit his resignation. However, Siddeshwara requested for 10 more days as it was his birthday on July 5.

In a press meet held yesterday, Siddeshwara said, "Neither Modiji nor Amit Shah has asked me to resign. If they ask for my resignation, I shall comply with their instruction and resign immediately.”

Siddeshwara, who represented the Lingayat community in Karnataka, held the portfolio for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. His removal from the cabinet has upset the Lingayat community in the state.

According to sources, Siddeshwara has requested Amit Shah to reconsider the decision and has also approached BS Yeddyurappa on this matter.

Ramesh Jigajinagi, representing Bijapur constituency, will be replacing Siddeshwara.
