Cab drivers tried to commit suicide in front of Ola office

FollowOla and Uber drivers staged protest on Thursday, February 16, in front of Ola office, insisting to fulfil their demands. The protest took a serious turn when two drivers tried to commit suicide.
Mohan Babu and Srinivas were taken to VIMS hospital immediately. Sources say that Mohan Babu is admitted in ICU for advanced treatment and Srinivas is recovering and responding to the treatment.
The incident took place in front of Ola corporate office located in Murugeshpalya. Mohan Babu consumed poison while Srinivas tried to set himself ablaze by pouring kerosene.
The protesters took them to the nearby hospital immediately. It is said that Srinivas is not seriously injured, but since Mohan Babu had consumed poison he was taken to KIMS hospital for advanced treatment.
JJ Nagar police came to the spot and warned the Ola and Uber companies to resolve the issue by February 21. But protesters didn’t agree to the negotiation by police. Drivers claimed that they’ve tried resolving the problem several times in the past.
The cab drivers have already approached the transport minister and expressed their grievances. But neither the companies nor the government has addressed to their demands so far.
“Every time they ask for time limit. Even this time they are asking us to give them some time. But this time we don’t listen to them” – Tanveer Pasha, Chairman, Ola Cab Drivers Association.
