Explosion in Kerala Court premises; one injured

Blast in Kerala Court premises

A vehicle parked in the Munsif Court premises at Kollam destroyed in a blast on Wednesday morning, injuring one. Police suspect that the explosion is 'pre-meditated' and has cordoned off the area.

The injured is identified as Sabu from Kundara near Kollam.

Preliminary reports say that the blast occurred in the front of a government vehicle parked in the court premises around 10.45 a.m. The police and Bomb Squad have recovered shreds of the explosive material used for the blast.

Police said that the explosion was caused by a steel bomb fitted with a timer. The bomb was placed in a jeep parked in the court premises and blew off as the court was about to start the session. The police conducted extensive search in the area. An investigation has started and the officials suspect that the blast must have some connection with the cases to be considered by the court on Wednesday.
