BS Yeddyurappa, who was at Yadgir to strengthen the party, used the platform to lash at the Congress government for mishandling the police department.

"I demand the resignation of Bangalore Development KJ George for his alleged involvement in the suicide of DySP MK Ganapathy. Ganapathy had named George hours before his death. The BJP’s protest will not stop until he quits his ministry.” the BJP President added.

KJ George was the Home Minister earlier. Ganapathy had accused senior officers, Pranob Mohanty and N M Prasad, along with George, of torture and denial of promotion.

He supposedly slipped into depression due to this 'torture'.

Yeddyurappa, who was recently appointed as State BJP president, is leaving no stone unturned to swing popularity in his favour.

Meanwhile, various organisations in Coorg have called for a Madikeri Bandh on July 14. Machaiah, the brother of DySP Ganapathy, has filed a private complaint in the JMFC court in Madikeri, asking the court to direct an investigation into the suicide and alleged harassment. He has accused two senior police officers and Minister KJ George of being the reason behind the death of his brother.

Pavana Ganapathy, the wife of Ganapathy, also echoed a similar sentiment and demanded justice. She, along with her son Sunil Ganapathy, have also filed a complaint at Kushalnagar, saying, "I cannot expect justice from the CID, which is governed by the state government. I want a probe at the highest level."

Although the government has defended KJ George and a preliminary report by the CID states that the suicide was due to a family dispute and depression, the demand for sacking George from the cabinet has gotten louder.

The opposition has torn into the ruling Congress during the Monsoon session.
