ES Bijimol, a Communist Party of India (CPI) MLA has claimed that she is facing “life threats” from a leader of her own party. In an interview to a magazine, Bijimol alleged that a top leader from Peerumedu in Idukky hatched a plot to endanger her life and her family.

Without mentioning the leader's name, Bijimol told the magazine that during the poll campaign she often went with confidants by her side, avoided travelling during odd hours. The MLA said that she still make sure that her food is not poisoned before having it. 

Airing her apprehensions, Bijimol said that she had political rivals within the party. They tried to defeat her in the elections and fabricated stories and spread rumours, she added. Bijimol also said that even after being elected to Kerala Assembly, she still feared for her life and reputation.
