Bengaluru Tamil Sangam pleads for protection
The Bengaluru Tamil Sangam has submitted an application to the home minister of the state seeking protection for Tamilians residing in Bengaluru.
In view of the ongoing Cauvery dispute, G Damodaran, the Chairman of the Sangam met home minister Dr G. Parameshwara on Tuesday and submitted the letter.
G Damodaran said that the Sangam stands in support of the government's decision with regards to the Cauvery issue.
“The farmers are protesting in many districts of Karnataka including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, etc. Some miscreants take advantage of this protest and try to harm the Tamil people and their properties. Hence we request the home minister to provide necessary protection to Tamilians” he said to the media.
As yet another precaution, Nataraja and other theatres that screen Tamil movies have been locked temporarily for security reasons.
