Bengaluru: A new initiative has been taken by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), where Bengalureans can now enjoy pedal boating in one of Bengaluru's oldest, Yediyur Lake starting on Thursday. The lake is also home to many species of birds.

This offers Bengalureans a much-needed reprieve from the bustling streets to experience a sense of serenity at a very low cost. A 30-minute ride in this pedal boat will cost people Rs 50, and unaccompanied children will not be boarded into the boat. Yediyur Lake, stretching across 11 acres of land will be the third lake after Ulsoor, and Madiwala Lake having the boating facilities.

Active lake purifying measures were taken to clean the 12-feet deep lake without causing any danger to the fish living the lake. Earlier in 2017, the BBMP had renewed the lake and started the well appreciated "Banadi Marali Baa Goodige" project by hosting a bird sanctuary in the lake.
