Bengaluru police slap kidnapping charges on ABVP protestors

In an effort to tackle the right-wing-backed student organisation's protest against the state government for not taking action against Amnesty International, Magadi police have registered a FIR - slapping kidnapping charges on the ABVP.

Based on a complaint from KTSV PU college principal Srikantaiah who has alleged that ABVP activists forcefully took students including minors from the college to participate in the protest.

"I had informed the police station and lodged a complaint against ABVP on August 18. Students under the age of 18 were forced to participate in the protest. A case has been registered under section 363 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code, " the principal said.

Meanwhile, the right-wing group continued their agitation against the Karnataka government for allegedly shielding Amnesty.

On the backdrop of recent agitation by right-wing activists for alleged "anti-national" remarks,  All India Congress Committee general secretary  BK Hariprasad lashed out at the ABVP and the RSS calling them "anti-Dalits".

Hariprasad who spoke at the 73rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the 101st birth anniversary of former Karnataka Chief Minister Devraj Urs at Town Hall asked the general public to be aware of RSS and its agents.

"RSS is against the downtrodden, Dalits, tribals, Muslims and other minorities. They force their ideas on others, " he said.

He also said that by wearing a khaki chaddi, a black cap and holding a lathi in their hand no one can become patriotic. The true colour of these fascist groups was exposed several years ago when they refused to join Mahatma Gandhi in driving the Britishers away from India.

"All the community members joined Gandhi but these groups did not join," stated Hariprasad.

If at all sedition charge should be slapped on someone, he said, then it is PM Modi who should be booked first for a comment he once made on how regrets being born in India.  .

Calling ABVP as mongrels, he said, the police did the right thing by preventing them from disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the city. These forces do not understand the meaning of sedition. The term 'sedition' was introduced by Britishers for slogans used against them by freedom fighters.

Commenting on gau rakshas, he said, "One of the Hindu men was killed by anti-social elements but the BJP has kept silent."
