Bengaluru Mayor sets a good example for peoples representatives

The people’s representatives and municipality corporators commonly crave to enjoy foreign trips from tax payers money. But Bengaluru Mayor has set a good example for them by rejecting a foreign tour offer.

Bengaluru Mayor G Padmavati had received invitations from Mexico, Dubai, Canada and China. The respective hosts were ready to bear the expenditures of flight tickets and all other expenditures of the guest. But Mayor has not accepted their offers.

“It takes 4-5 days to visit a foreign country and I don’t have time for such foreign trips. My term is just one year and in a year I get only 250 days to work. Currently I’m working even during the holidays. I want to listen to the grievances of tax payers and it is my responsibility to solve their problems” – Mayor G Padmavati

Hussain Nasir Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality had invited G Padmavati last year for a convention that was held in the month of February. Similarly she was invited by the municipalities of Mexico and Canada also. But she had rejected those offers too.

Now Chengdu city municipality has invited her for a convention that is scheduled on May 9-12, 2017. Sources say that Mayor has rejected this offer too.

In 2012 Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy and other 25 corporators had planned to visit Dubai. But the cancelled the trip due to severe objection from opposition parties.
