bengaluru man robbed asked for lift car loot

A 26-year-old man was not only robbed but also sustained severe injuries on his face after he was attacked with a knife by strangers from whom he had accepted a lift. He later escaped, only thanks to a stroke of luck.

Madan Kumar, a Bengaluru-based professional from Sunkadakatte on Magadi Road had gone out partying with his friends on Saturday night.

After the party, he decided to wait for an autorickshaw at Nagarabhavi junction at 11 pm, when three men in a car offered to drop him.

According to the police, they told him that they were heading towards Sumanahalli and would drop him on the way. Madan sensed something was fishy when they took a deviation from the main road, prompting the victim to object.

As this point, of the occupants in the car attacked the 26-year-old with a knife. Later they stole the ₹5,000 in cash that he was carrying.

However, a desperate Madan got in a scuffle with the car occupants, during which the driver of the car lost control and crashed into another car. After the crash, the occupants of the other car got into an argument with Madan’s captors. Sensing an opportunity, the Magadi Road resident was able to escape.

The Kamakshipalya police are investigating the case.
