The school principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kumar Thakur, has been arrested on the charge of sexually abusing female students of the school. The abuse came to light after a nodal officer of Childline filed a complaint after receiving calls from the staff of this school informing about the incident . According to a report in India Today, the complaint against the principal stated that he called female students to his office and let them out almost after half an hour of having an indecent conversation. The complaint also mentions specific accounts of misbehaviour and the complainant confirmed that the school staff will provide all possible assistance to the police.

The principal was arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, later on, he was remanded to judicial custody. However, he is out on bail at the moment.

Though, under the Karnataka Child protection policy any person booked under such serious charge is suspended according to state education department officials. But, since Kendriya Vidyalayas do not come under the state government, Kumar Thakur has been sent on long leave.
