New Bengaluru police commissioner Praveen Sood has announced. Sood is the 32nd commissioner of Bengaluru. SN Megharik handed over charge on January 1.
After taking the new responsibility Sood spoke to the media and said that reducing crime rate in the city will be his prime focus. He also told that he would utilise social media and make the police department more public friendly.

“The citizens need not come to the station to file complaint. They can send their complaints through twitter, facebook and WhatsApp. We have developed police app also (e-lost app). We are planning to send FIR, Charge Sheet, B or C report also through message” he said.
He also told that he will take initiative to control the city’s road traffic and assured that the police will not torture common riders unnecessarily. However, he said that serious action will be taken against those who drunken drivers.
He also told that he has instructed the cops to complete all kinds of inspections and verifications like passport verification within 15 days. In the coming days he told that he is planning to cut this duration to 10 days.
Sood is getting a promotion as DGP (Deputy General of Police) in the month of October. Hence he may remain as the commissioner of the city for 10 months.
