Ballari could run for a year on Reddys daughters wedding cost

Yes, you read that right. Mining baron and millionaire Gali Janardhan Reddy will be spending at least ₹500 crore on his daughter Brahmini’s wedding, which is going to be a six-day event.

For the wedding, mega preparations are being made at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. The 36-acre property is being made to look like the Vijayanagara Empire. The gigantic Kalyan Mantap will be a replica of historical Vijaya Vittala Temple located in Hampi.

It is said that Janardhan Reddy considers himself the reincarnation of Krishnadevaraya, the 16th-century ruler of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Reddy, who hails from a poor family, believes that his fate took a fortunate turn after the birth of his daughter and hence wants to turn the wedding into a grand occasion. Interestingly even as Gali Janardhan Reddy is ready to splurge on the wedding, Ballari district is battling its worst drought yet.

The expenses of Reddy's daughter's marriage is even more than the annual budget allocation of Ballari Corporation, which is ₹184 crores.

The marriage venue also sports a village-type environment and has large houses for the families of the bride and bridegroom.

Renowned Kannada film set designer and state award winner, Shashidhar Adapa has been tasked with the responsibility of building the wedding venue.

The mining baron, who spent 40 months in jail and was able to secure bail early this year, also plans to host a wedding function in Ballari. Here the wedding function will be in Telugu Reddy style and will be held on a 50-acre property.
