Assault on actress Police recover memory card sim

The special police team investigating the assault on actress retrieved a mobile sim and memory card belonging to prime accused Pulsar Suni. These were recovered from the residence of Manu, Ambalapuzha, a friend of key accused, during evidence collection.

Meanwhile, there are reports that police received crucial evidence from CCTV visuals of the Highway. The visuals show that the accused followed the car in which actress was travelling, in another vehicle.

However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the sim and memory card were used in the phone Suni had used to record the incident.

The prime accused had visited the house of Manu, a private bus driver, on various occasions including the wedding of latter's sister. Suni went to Manu seeking help soon after he understood that the actress had approached the police. He reached the house about 7.30 am on February 18, hours after the incident.

Manu's mother and sister confirmed that both are friends. Suni asked for a pin to take the memory card out of the phone, but his attempt failed. The duo went out and returned in an hour. Suni also asked Manu to give ₹10, 000, but Manu did not give the amount. The accused left the house as the mother and sister identified him from television footage.

Manu's mother and sister recognised Suni Suni when he was taken for identification.

Suni had earlier told police that he threw away the phone in a canal. Though investigation authorities conducted a search, they failed to recover the phone. Later accused revealed that he threw it into the lake from Goshree bridge on his way to Kochi, to surrender before the court. Following this police took Suni and his aid Vijeesh to identify the spot and conducted a search in the lake with the help of Navy team. However, this search also turned futile.

Meanwhile, SIT was also looking for further evidence and searches were going on at Kundannoor and Alappuzha, where prime accused and his aid stayed after the incident. It was during a search at his friend's house that police got the phone.
