“You don’t know when the demons would prowl on you. So, always keep a weapon with you and show the courage to use it when in need,” said Bhagya Lakshmi, senior dubbing artist and social activist, responding to the abduction and harassment of famous South Indian actress in Kochi on Saturday.
“Isn’t it better to go jail than succumbing to these devils,” Bhagyalakshmi quips.

The laws are numb when it comes to attacks on women. "Nobody will come to your rescue. Unfortunately, the court verdicts (in rape cases) send out a message that laws are framed to rescue the culprits, while the society blames the victim for the rape," Bhagyalakshmi wrote on her Facebook page, underscoring the need for self-defense. “Our fear is their courage. So, be courageous,” she added.

Bhagyalakshmi had come out recently against Pinarayi Vijayan govt. for not arresting the culprits, including a CPM leader, in a gang rape case which she brought to light recently.

Meanwhile, messages of support are pouring in for the actress who went through a harrowing experience after she was kidnapped and harassed by a gang on Friday night in Kochi.

Actor Prithviraj demanded the culprits be brought to book as soon as possible. "...as a man who has to share the responsibility of a society that bears this shame, I hang my head," he wrote. "I know this girl..I know how brave she is...if it's affected her enough to make her stay away from what she loves the most..I can only imagine how harrowing it must have been. Yes..please let us have an effective investigation in place, and please let's bring the bastards to justice asap," the actor demanded.
