Anupama Shenoy meets ex-minister, eyes political career

Anupama Shenoy, ex-minister Srinivas Prasad, plans to join politics

Anupama Shenoy, who had tendered her resignation in protest against Karnataka's police system last month and alleged she was being harassed by higher officials, met ex Mysore district in-charge minister V Srinivas Prasad on Friday.

The former police officer shared her bitter experiences during service with the minister, who appreciated her bold stance, sources say.

I met Srinivas Prasad as I had to discuss some issues with him. I cannot say anything right away. Will let you know in the coming days, said Anupama, speaking to the reporters after her meeting.

Prasad was removed from the Karnataka Cabinet, a week ago.

Among the other ministers who were removed from the Cabinet, most are holding talks to decide their next move. This lends importance to Shenoy’s meeting with Prasad.

It is learned that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Executive President Dinesh Gundu Rao too entered Prasad’s residence when Anupama was in talks with him.

This goes against the initial speculation that Shenoy's action were backed by the BJP.

Meanwhile, the BJP welcomed Prasad to join their party. “We have not invited him. But if he wants to join the BJP, we are more than happy to welcome him,” said Siddeshwar, incumbent Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
