Angry JDS workers conduct funeral for alive party members
JDS workers are miffed with eight members of their party who violated the party norms by cross-voting for Congress representatives in the Rajyasabha elections which were held on June 11.
JDS party leaders including Zameer Ahmed Khan, Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda, Iqbal Ansari, HC Balakrishna, K Gopalaiah, N Cheluvaraya Swamy, Bheemanayka and Akhanda Srinivasamurthy have been accused by their fellow party members of cross-voting.
The JDS workers in Mandya district were disappointed with their local leaders N Cheluvaraya Swamy, Nagamangala MLA and Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, Srirangapatna MLA. In an attempt to bring shame to their leaders, these workers published and distributed thousands of funeral invitations and also uploaded them on social media. These funeral invites which carried photos of the two leaders read, “Invitation to the funeral ceremony: Condolences from the aggrieved JDS workers in Nagamangala and Srirangapatna legislative constituencies, Karnataka.”
It further reads, “On the Saturday, June 11, 2016, N Cheluvaraya Swamy, Nagamangala MLA and Rameshbabu Bandisiddegowda, Srirangapatna MLA have gone to hell by consuming the filth served by Congress party.
We have decided to conduct the funeral conventions in the upcoming Vidhana Sabha elections. We request you to attend the funeral convention.”
The enraged party workers burnt the replicas of the two leaders and conducted a funeral ceremony and decorated their photos with chappal garlands at Sanjay Circle in Mandya.
BV Suresh, Srirangapatna JDS leader said, “Cross-voting is equivalent to hiding the names of our birth parents and naming some random people as our parents. The JDS party workers have threatened these leaders that they’ll commit suicide if Congress wins in the upcoming elections.
Presently, JDS has suspended all the eight accused MLAs and have issued show cause notices to them. JDS leader Bandeppa Kashempore said, “HD Devegowda is like a factory, who can constantly produce leaders.”
