Mohamed Ali, a progress thinker, is a self-made man who started his journey quite early in his life and walked through the desert of Oman to find his oasis to build the empire of his success.

1.  Dr P Mohamed Ali is fondly called Galfar Mohamed Ali and he is a native of Thalikulam in Thrissur, Kerala.

 

2. Before leaving India for Dubai, Mohamed Ali worked with General Reserve Engineering Force, under the Ministry of Defence of Mizohill, now renamed as Mizoram, for three years.

 

3. He founded the Galfar Engineering and Contracting Co., in the early 1970s and in a nation that was in its early stage of development. Yet, the company took the risk of penetrating into the interiors of this nation and in a decade achieved stability and today, it is one of the biggest private sector company in India.

 

4. During the 1990s, Ali invested ₹100 crore in his native place Kerala and built the first International Convention Centre in the state.  It was a risky take back then, but today this centre is one of the prime location for hosting events in the state and proves his progressive approach towards infrastructural development. 

 

5. In 1989, his company Galfar Engineering and Contracting Co. received the prestigious 'Sword of Honours' from the British Safety Council, along with 32 other global companies.

 

6. Apart from building a massive company and working for the betterment of Oman, Mohamed Ali's success is all the more inspiring because along the way he provided employment to around 2,50,000 people.

 

7. Mohamed Ali received the prestigious Oman Civil Order from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin in 2002 for his exemplary service to Oman's business sector as well as social and educational initiates.

 

8. The then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee awarded him the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award in 2004 for promoting India's honour and prestige, and he became the first Indian citizen to win this award.
