Th incident came to light after the student returned home and explained about the incident to his parents. The child, a student of Mar Ivanious Bethany School, Kalayapuram, was admitted to Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital.

According to the explanation given by the child, the principal took him, along with few other students, to office room and questioned them about some naughty behaviour. He said he was watching the boys through the surveillance camera and caned them without giving an explanation about their misconduct.

The incident took place in the morning at 8.30 am, and the kids were made to remain at school until evening, and no first aid was given though the teacher knew that children had suffered injuries.

It was only after the boy came home and explained the incident that parents came to know about the issue. As the boy had suffered serious injuries, parents took him to the hospital.

The boy is admitted to hospital with serious injuries, Times of India reports.

Parents filed a complaint with the police, and a case has been registered against school principal Fr John Palavila for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon, under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code. The sub-inspector said that there are several marks on the body of the boy and it is proof that he had been caned brutally.
