Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman poisoned her two children, including a five-month-old girl, before hanging herself from the ceiling of her rented house in Manorayanapalya, near Hebbal, on Monday.

Pushpavathi, who was a homemaker, stated in her suicide note that she was taking this drastic step because she was depressed in life. The note reportedly also stated that nobody was responsible for her suicide.

It was when her husband, Nagaraj, who was a driver with a private company returned home at 9 pm on Monday, that the incident came to light. He found the bodies of his wife along with the bodies of his eight-year-old son, Jeevan N and his daughter.

According to reports, preliminary investigation revealed that Pushpavathi, who was from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, fell in love with Nagaraj 10 years ago when they worked together in a firm. Despite their parents’ opposition, they married.

When police questioned Nagaraj, he reportedly said that they never fought during their married life. He expressed shock when he was informed that his wife had poisoned their children and killed herself. He said that she was not in touch with her family after their wedding.

All three bodies were shifted to Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Hospital.

Reports state that the police had contacted Pushpavathi’s parents over the phone and were waiting for them to arrive to conduct a post-mortem. A case will be registered based on their statement.
