July 1 not the last day to link Aadhaar to PAN

FollowCurrently, people are panicking about linking the Aadhaar card number to the PAN card. But the sources have said PAN will not become invalid if you don’t link it with Aadhaar number before July 1.
The rule has been misunderstood by people. According to the Centre’s notification, linking Aadhaar to PAN is mandatory from July 1, but the last date to do so has not been finalised yet. Thus if anyone is yet to do the process, do not panic, you have time to do so till the Centre announces a deadline.
Section 139AA, Income-tax Act says: "Every person who has been allotted permanent account number as on the 1st day of July, 2017, and who is eligible to obtain Aadhaar number, shall intimate his Aadhaar number to such authority in such form and manner as may be prescribed, on or before a date to be notified by the Central Government in the Official Gazette: Provided that in case of failure to intimate the Aadhaar number, the permanent account number allotted to the person shall be deemed to be invalid, and the other provisions of this Act shall apply, as if the person had not applied for allotment of permanent account number," reported Economic Times.
Thus, those want to do the transactions using the PAN must have linked their Permanent Account Number to the Aadhaar number from July 1. If you have not done so, your PAN will not become invalid, but you can still link it.
Here is the link to know how to link your Aadhaar number to the PAN:
•   Visit the income tax e-filing portal at https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/ and enter your user id and password to access your profile. A new user can register himself by providing the basic details such as PAN, name and date of birth.
•   Go to the "profile settings" tab. A drop down menu will appear. On clicking on "Link Aadhar", a new form will be displayed.
•   One needs to enter a name, DOB, gender as per PAN records. Then the Aadhaar number and the PAN number should be entered after entering the CAPTCHA (for Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart)  code appearing on the screen.
•   The visitor reaches the last leg of the process. A success message is displayed confirming the linking of Aadhaar with the PAN card and a confirmation mail is sent to the registered e-m ail id.
