IndiGo hates kids: Wants to 'protect' fliers from them

IndiGo airline, India's largest airline by market share, is now on a mission to protect its passenger's delicate sensibilities from wailing, noisy children.

According to a report in News18 the airline said in a statement on Wednesday, "IndiGo endeavors to extend courteous and hassle free experience to all passengers (that includes both leisure and corporate travellers) who wish to fly with the airline. Keeping in mind the comfort and convenience of all passengers - row number 1 to 4 and 11 to 14 are generally kept as a 'Quiet Zone’ on IndiGo flights. These zones have been created for business travellers, who prefer to use the quiet time to do their work."  

This essentially means that in case you want to be seated in the front of the plane and stretch out you weary legs and take a quiet nap well then think again! because if you are travelling with kids below 12 years with you then you will not be allowed to sit in these precious seats. So rows 1-4 and 11-14 are now 'quiet zones'.

This comes at a time when the budget airline has added 40 new flights to cater to the upcoming festive demand. A report in the Mint said that it has also started inducting updated Airbus A320neo planes into its fleet. IndiGo, which in 2011 became the first airline to order 430 of these fuel-efficient planes, has faced delivery delays as Pratt and Whitney Co. Inc. was facing engine issues. The delay became a huge cause of concern for the markets, and IndiGo's shares crashed by 19% earlier in January this year.
