Companies slammed for offering 'surgical strike' discounts

Companies slammed for offering surgical strike discounts

As the Army carried out surgical strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), companies like MobiKwik, Burger Singh today announced special offers and discounts.
    

MobiKwik, online mobile recharge platform, offered 20 percent cash back with special code named "ISTSTRIKE".
    

"Special Offer! Use Code: 1STSTRIKE & get 20% cashback (up to Rs.100) if it's ur 1st Prepaid/DTH Recharge of Sept'16 on MobiKwik. Click: http://bit.ly/2ce2gB9 T&Ca," said a text message from the company.
    

Similarly, Burger Singh, a burger joint in the National Capital Region, also announced a 20 percent discount.
    

"In light of the surgical strike by India defence forces on terrorist camps (POK), we offer 20 per cent off on all orders on burgersinghonline.com. Coupon code:fpak20," the message said.
    

However, the discount was withdrawn after being slammed on social media with some users terming it "savage marketing" tactic. Pakistani media also ridiculed the offer.
    


"The offer was there, but it has now been called off," a call centre executive of one of the companies said.
