Air India pilots ask for no objection certificate to quit

24 co-pilots of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner are seeking no objection certificate from Air India to resign from their position because of lack of career growth prospects. Boeing 787 Dreamliner is often called the turnaround aircraft and at present Air India has 23 of these planes and about 300 pilots to fly them, reported the Economic Times.

The 24 pilots who are seeking the NOCs joined the Indian Airlines 2007-08 to fly Airbus A320s before this airline got merged with Air India. In 2012, when Air India inducted the Dreamliners, these pilots were selected for training to fly the new aircraft.

However, this move to shift from Airbus A320s to Dreamliners turned out to be a career mistake as pilots who joined to fly the Airbus A320s after these 24 pilots got promoted to commander’s position. On the other hand, the 24 co-pilots of Boeing 787 Dreamliners are still co-pilots even after serving for almost a decade.
