Few farmers from Bicchugavdi, a small and a remote village of Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh went to the bank to withdraw cash. What happened after that will leave you in a state of shock. The farmers were handed “genuine” ₹ 2,000 notes without the image of Mahatma Gandhi on them.

 

When one of the farmers started using the notes in the market, another farmer who was aware of the defect came and told him about it.

Their obvious initial reaction was that the bank handed them fake notes and thus they rushed back to the SBI branch to report the defect.

 

Surprisingly, the bank officials told them that the notes were “genuine” and it was just a printing error.

 

Last year, when RBI had released the new ₹ 500 notes in the market, they had admitted about the fact that there were printing discrepancies in those newly issued notes as well.
