With the arrival of the monsoon, heavy rains have started in many places in the country. If you are thinking of travelling in such weather, then here are a few places that you can consider for your next trip! Although there is no long weekend in July, one can still think of planning a weekend trip. Not only are these places pictorially beautiful, but they are also so naturally blessed that their natural beauty will refresh you from your hectic schedules. And while you travel to these destinations, make it a point to indulge in some local activities as well as the cuisine that these places have to offer.

Udaipur, Rajasthan: The city of lakes, Udaipur, looks prettier in the monsoon season. Though the best time to visit the city is during the winters, Udaipur still makes quite a destination during monsoons. The city that is surrounded by the Aravalli ranges, blooms to green during monsoon. You can visit numerous places in and around Udaipur including Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh.

Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra: The best time to visit Mahabaleshwar is during the monsoon season. You can go for a walk in the picturesque hill station. Don’t forget the strawberries there! To add the monsoon magic, try out a piping hot vada pav with a hot cup of chai. You can double the fun of the holidays by doing some adventure activities like trekking, zorbing, etc. While visiting Mahabaleshwar, one can also go to Vienna Lake, Wilson Point and Pratapgarh Fort, among others. Take a flight or train to Pune, which is the nearest railway station and airport.

Munnar, Kerala: The greenery and natural beauty of Munnar, located in Kerala, is a perfect sight for the eyes during the monsoons. Travelling to Munnar in monsoon is always a pleasant experience. In this beautiful hill station of Kerala, you can enjoy trekking trails, walk through the tea gardens, etc. Aluna and Ernakulam railway stations are the nearest railway stations.

Coorg, Karnataka: Another hill station that is loaded with lush greenery and coffee plantation is Karnataka’s Coorg. Although Coord is also a place that one must visit during winters if you love monsoons and like to be surrounded by greenery, add this destination to your list. The waterfalls here become more attractive during the rains. Along with seeing the coffee plantation, you can also enjoy trekking and horse riding. It takes five hours to reach Coorg from Bengaluru.

Meghalaya: One of the seven sisters, Meghalaya is a blissful destination to visit during the monsoon season. There are numerous places in Meghalaya where one can travel to. Explore the locales there while absorbing the natural beauty of the Northeaster state. Soak yourself in the greenery while enjoying the local cuisines of a rainy day!
