There are numerous videos of men going down on their knees and professing their love for their beloved. Heck, some of them are so sickly sweet that even a hopeless romantic acquires a layer of cynicism after watching the said content. But Alec Horan, 25, and his girlfriend Steph Gardner’s engagement video begs to differ.
The loved up couple’s video begins with lots of athleticism, strength and flexibility set to the tunes of Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. An unsuspecting viewer is left feeling inspired by the yoga poses but Horan soon makes it known that this video is a sham. It’s not about them practicing the ancient Hindu exercise; it’s about a proposal.
In the video that’s been recently uploaded on YouTube, Horan pulls out a ring while his girlfriend lies suspended on his legs. He holds it until she bends her head and looks at him. What ensues is a whole lot of shock, surprise and kisses, which has admittedly melted several hearts on the internet.
The photographer from Pennsylvania has been flooded with several messages and he told The Daily Mail that he teared up when he saw Gardner’s reaction. “Because the love there is tangible, a lot of people who watch the video get choked up, but reactions have been extremely positive,” he added.
Horan said he planned the proposal for six months and before he finally popped the question at their vacation in Oahu, Hawaii. Since the couple often films their yoga practice, Gardner didn’t expect a proposal at all. Horan and Gardner have been together for two years and find yoga a good way to connect.
