We are a day away from celebrating the strength, feminity and the uniqueness of womanhood. What started in the 90's has now been recognised as International Women's day on 8th March. This jamboree is not affiliated with one group, but brings the government, women's organisations, groups, together.

Bengaluru is also gearing up to welcome the day as many corporate houses have something special to offer to the women in the workforce. Swearing by the same tradition, and to bring the marginalized section of the society to the mainstream, one of the top hotel chains in the city, The Lalit Ashok's nightclub Kitty Ko, kickstarted a mega tour to celebrate womanhood, but with a little twist. The tour titled as 'A 1000 Rekha's' will feature and honour the women belonging to the LGBT community. In this flamboyant event, trans-women and the drag queens will pay tribute to the evergreen Bollywood actress Rekha through their performances.

The Executive Director of the group, Mr Keshav Suri, says “Kitty Su and Kitty Ko is not just a nightclub, but a revolution. And this time, with transgender artists and drag queens paying tribute to one of Bollywood’s biggest star, we are trying to question society’s norms on gender. "
