Peeling ginger can be a difficult task. This root vegetable has a thick skin and it doesn't come off very easily with a peeler or it totally tears apart when a knife is used. But what if there was another way of peeling ginger? Well, not many may know this but you can actually use a spoon to peel off ginger skin.

If you're wondering how to do this, then don't fret. The process is quite simple and all it requires you to do is store ginger in the freezer for two hours before the peeling process. Then bring it out and let is rest for a couple of minutes in room temperature.

After this, take a spoon and peel off the skin. It will come off very easily and evenly. If you're running out of time and want to peel a ginger quickly, then run it under tap water, let it rest for a few minutes and then peel it off with a spoon.

Using a spoon instead of a knife is a great way of getting only the skin out. Peelers and knives usually eat into the flesh, leading to wastage. However you can avoid all of this by just using a piece of cutlery you wouldn't otherwise use.

This magical vegetable, which has great many medicinal properties, stays fresh if you store it in the freezer for a long time. So make sure that your ginger is stored well. Put the vegetable in a plastic bag and keep it in the coldest part of the fridge. If you have peeled some part of the vegetable, then make sure its dry before you place it in the plastic bag.
