The king of South Indian fruits, the jackfruit, is not just a deliciously pulpy fruit that is meant to be consumed. Native to Southeast Asia, the fruit is considered to be one of the largest in the world, and is very popular down south.  This incredibly versatile fruit can be had a sweet or savoury dish. But did you know it’s a fruit that brims with a chockfull of benefits?



A) Seeds
 


 

  1. Makes you look younger:  Who knew jackfruit seeds could slow down the ageing process?  Use jackfruit seeds and coat it with milk for a bit, and make a scrub by making a paste out of it, and gently use it as a scrub. It is said to reduce wrinkles
     
  2. Blemish-free skin: For clear skin, make a paste out of the seeds, milk and honey. Apply to your face, and rinse off.



 

B) The fruit   

 

  1. Cancer-fighting properties: Jackfruit has a number of antioxidants that fight free radicals in the body. In addition to this, it is packed with flavonoids and photo nutrients in it as well. It helps prevent a number of cancers like colon and lung among others
     
  2. Friendly digestive: As a rich source of fibre, it is a good source of digestion, and is a good laxative.
     
  3. Keeps blood sugar levels in check: Thanks to the presence of manganese in jackfruit, it keeps one’s blood sugar levels in check.
     
  4. Infections: Like cold and chest congestion, jackfruit helps strengthen the immune system.
     
  5. Boosts sperm count: It is believed that the consumption of the jackfruit is said to increase men’s sperm count and quality according to Ayurveda

C) Jackfruit Tree  

 



The bark and leaves of the tree are burnt. Its ash mixed with coconut oil works well for wounds. In fact, the leaves along with the root of the jackfruit tree is said to help with skin diseases once a decoction is made and applied on it.
