Depending on one’s culture, one may choose to leave their footwear outside before entering a home, or a special puja room that’s been made. Some of these rituals make sense, while there are others don’t quite.
 

Ultimately, it boils down to the homeowner and what he feels would work positively for him.

1. Mango leaves 
 



In India, the entrance of one’s home is strung with and is done so, because Indians believe that these leaves will  ward off evil spirits. Sometimes, chillies and limes tied on a string will adorn the entrance as well.

 

 



2. Keep your windows closed:

 


Followed in Spain, residents consider November 1 to be the day of the dead, and its spirits wander the streets. To prevent evil from entering one’s home, windows are firmly shut.



 

3. Pineapple Fortunes:

 

 


Confused as to what a delicious fruit might have to do with a house-related superstition? Well, pineapples are seen as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. In China, pineapples are referred to as ‘ong lai’. This is translated as “fortune that will come in”. In other southeast Asian countries, pineapples are rolled in. Or a number of pineapple-motif wares will be present.

Russians believe that cats bring peace and joy; hence, when one buys a home in Russia, they allow cats to enter first because they believe that good spirits ride atop a cat, and is a good omen. But what if you don’t own a ? Well, the next best thing they do is getting cat ornaments, which are placed near the door.

It is considered a bad omen to open an umbrella indoor before stepping out.
