New human organ has been discovered by scientists

A new human organ called the mesentery in the digestive system that has been discovered by scientists.  

 

This organ was initially thought to be a separate organ, but it turned out to be the opposite. In fact, it is one continuous organ.

 

"In the paper, which has been peer reviewed and assessed, we are now saying we have an organ in the body which hasn’t been acknowledged as such to date," J. Calvin Coffey, a researcher from the University Hospital Limerick in Ireland, who first made the discovery," according to a Time report.

It’s discovery holds huge potential, as scientists can now study it.

The new organ is located in the lining of the abdominal cavity and is a double fold of the peritoneum, and connects the intestine to the abdomen. While it’s actual function is unknown yet, scientists are working on it.
