The Duke of Cambridge Prince William and his brother Prince Harry have never really been able to get over the loss of their mother – Princess Diana. Tabloid reports day in and day out rake up some old story of their mother’s keeping her name alive. Apart from this the Princess Diana was very popular among the British folk and any insight into the life royals lead is a steady source of interest and gossip for the public.

Latest after a string of revelations on how Diana led her life with Prince Charles and tackling the jealousy that came from Camilla Parker Bowles, is the boys speaking about their mother.

The duo spoke about their last ever phone call with mother and how like typical boys they just wanted to end the call and get on with playing their game. The two were 15 and 12 years old when they lost their mother.  In hindsight, the duo wish they had lingered longer, or spoken just for few more minutes.

The life of Princess Diana and her sons has always been in the media. Every aspect of their lives made painfully public and so much so that it cost the boys their mother’s life. In an interview, Prince William and Harry remember that last conversation they had with her. They were at Balmoral with their father, the Prince of Wales, while she was in Paris.

The conversation happened in Paris hours before Princess Diana was killed in a crash in the Alma Tunnel in 1997.

Prince Harry now says that the briefness of that call weighs quite heavily on him and it is something he will regret for the rest of his life. As part of a documentary for ITV, the two were seen talking about some painful memories of their mother.

Though they refused to disclose what their mother spoke, Prince William said: "Harry and I were in a desperate rush to say goodbye, you know 'see you later'... if I'd known now obviously what was going to happen I wouldn't have been so blase about it and everything else.”

While Prince Harry, who does not quite remember the conversation, says : "Looking back on it now it's incredibly hard, I'll have to sort of deal with that for the rest of my life. Not knowing that was the last time I was going to speak to my mum, how differently that conversation would have panned out if I'd had even the slightest inkling her life was going to be taken that night."
