Want to touch the Moon? Well, at least your name can be on the moon for just ₹500. Team Indus, a space start-up will make this possible as part of its crowd-funding efforts for their Google Lunar XPrize quest as told by Sheelika Ravishankar, head of Marketing and Outreach.

The Bengaluru-based space start-up is working on winning Google Lunar XPrize to build a rover launch it to the moon, make it travel minimum 500 metres on the lunar surface and send high-definition images as well as videos back to earth.

Now, Team Indus will micro-engrave the named of its public ‘donors’ on a small aluminium object that will be placed on moon’s surface when the rover will descend on the moon. As of now, the company has received some 10,000 public ‘donors’.

The moon has not only become a human milestone but also a hotspot for spacecraft debris. Apart from man footprints, it has spacecraft wreckage of more than 70 vehicles, a list of artificial objects, and also more than 100 objects left there by Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong that includes space boots, TV cameras, bags of urine/faeces/vomit, hammer, golf balls and much more.

In short, the moon has become a dumping ground and the people are exploring its surface the more it is getting filthier.
