Sweets contain a lot of carbohydrates which slow down the digestive process. When we eat sweets, Tryptophan, an amino acid, gets produced, which in turn increases the serotonin level in the body. This serotonin sends signals to the brain telling it to ‘feel contented’ in the belly.
