Boy narrowly misses death by lightning

This boy got a little more than he bargained for.

16-year-old Ethan decided to record a storm that was looming over a beach at New Jersey. According to an ABC 13 report, "I just wanted to get like a cool lightning shot over the ocean and I got it a lot closer to me than I wanted," said Ethan Riozzi-Bodine.

He was inches from being electrocuted. The lightning bolt struck the ground just inches from him. He attributes being saved because of his cycle rubber tyres. He was stranded because the cycle chain had given way.

Adds the report, “"The whole ground just vibrated and it went up through my feet, up through my body, through my chest, and out through my arms," Ethan said.”

A quick visit to the ER revealed he was very lucky as he escaped without a scratch.
