If you’re struggling to find some good, new music to listen to, we’ve got you covered. This week promised to be an exciting one with a diverse range of artists dropping albums on the 9th of June. From pop to progressive rock, here are 5 albums you need to watch out for this Friday.

Anathema: The Optimist

Anathema has been around since 1990, with 10 full-length albums already behind them. The seasoned rockers are all set to return this Friday with what will be their 11th release. While just being able to stick around long enough to put that much music out is an achievement by itself, these rockers from Liverpool further ensure that each release is a departure from its predecessor. Anathema seems to be tapping into their mellower, prog-rock/post-rock sensibilities for their next release, but one can only wait and watch to see what’s in store for Anathema fans.

Katy Perry: Witness

With the latest release, Katy Perry intends to take a step into ‘purposeful pop’ with lyrical content getting more political than ever. There’s also a change stylistically with music leaning more towards disco. The album will feature collaborations with the likes of Skip Marley, Migo, and Niki Minaj. With this being Katy Perry’s first album in 4 years, pop music fans have all the more reason to rejoice.

Lady Antebellum: Heart Break

Country music stars, Lady Antebellum returns this Friday with their first album since 747 in 2014. While most artists seem to adapt and change once they achieve some sort of mainstream success, Lady Antebellum has continued to stick to their guns. With their latest release, Heart Break, Lady Antebellum promise to do what they have been doing since 2006 – making infectious, pop-infused country music.

Nickelback: Feed The Machine

Over the past few years, Nickelback has become a running joke amongst most internet users. The group gets more flak than they deserve, but they’re doing the right thing by ignoring the trolls and continuing to put out more and more music. This time around, Nickelback is as heavy as they have ever been, if not heavier. Their music seems to express a group that no longer cares about opinions or mainstream success as much as putting out music that they believe in.

Phoenix: Ti Amo

French indie-rock band, Phoenix is back with their first album since 2013 in the form of Ti Amo. This is probably the one album you have to watch out for, with the group’s music getting dangerously catchy. Their single, ‘Ti Amo’ is said to be ”a romantic song about the tragedy of unreciprocated love and desire” but what it really is, is a super intelligent pop song. Despite the song being in an odd meter, Phoenix still keeps it super groovy.
