Life skills are something that we all learn at home and on the job. Surprisingly, these sound awfully simple, but are actually quite difficult to master, but it's not impossible. Here are some of them that will serve you well in the long run.

1. Manage your time effectively:

The key to working well is managing your time effectively.  While this is a not a one size fits all time schedule, because everyone has a different style. So the idea behind managing your time effectively and successfully is finding one that works best for you. And stick to it.

2. Create a habit:

To be successful one must create a habit, and then stick to it religiously.  Be it personal or professional, the only way you can achieve your goal you is to be consistent and persevere. Whether it’s going to the gym to lose weight, or making it on time at work or even just learning a new skill, one must always continue and stick to it, even when you fall off the bandwagon.

3. Don’t poke your nose where it doesn’t belong:

Gossip is inevitable – be it at the watercooler or elsewhere – always walk away or diffuse the situation.  Sometimes, and it’s only human to get carried away in the heat of the moment. Even if you have nothing to contribute to the conversation, you’re equally liable because you’re an enabler.  And, gossipmongers, as we know are untrustworthy.

4. Ask for help:

If you have some difficulty solving a problem or an issue, always ask for help. There is always a tendency to assume that asking people for help is a sign of weakness or lacking awareness. You will be surprised to know that there are a lot of people willing to help you out, and you will learn a lot more than you bargained for.

5. Put yourself in another person’s shoe:

Also known as empathy, which is different from sympathy. Try and seek answers through open-ended questions.
