FollowThe peacock-peahen sex theory is what is captivating the Indian audience apart from the beef ban. So we give few more unbelievable explanations for why certain things happen and it has nothing to do with science.
First on our list has to be: Justice Mahesh Chand Sharma, the retired judge of Rajasthan High Court, gave out a controversial interview to news channels during his retirement function, held soon after passing the judgement on cow slaughter. This is why he considers the peacock as India’s national bird -…Peacock too has a quality, let me tell you. Peacock is a lifelong celibate. It never has sex with peahen. Its tears are picked by the peahen to get pregnant and give birth to baby peacock or baby peahen. God Krishna wore peacock feather for this reason. Peacock feather is used by saints and priests and in temples for this reason—its celibacy. Similarly, there are so many qualities in a cow that, as per my religious belief and my heart's feelings, it must be declared a national animal."
Second is the latest salvo that comes from RSS Leader Indresh Kumar who believes that the reason behind rape, illegitimate children and all other atrocities against women is the "western" tradition of Valentine's Day. “In India, love has been sacred and pious. It has been sung as the tales of Radha-Krishna, Laila-Majnu and Heer-Ranjha, but the western culture commercialised love and gave birth to festivals like Valentine’s Day, which is now responsible for problems like rape, illegitimate children and violence on women,” said Kumar.
Third is my all-time favourite: A Khap panchayat in Haryana conducted a study to find how why there was a spate of rapes in the villages. The results of the study will shock…er enlighten you and your food habits. Thua khap panchayat leader Jitender Chhatar explained, "Chowmein leads to hormonal imbalance, evoking an urge to indulge in acts such as rape and sex. You also know the impact of chowmein, which is a spicy food, on our body. Hence, our elders too advised to eat light and nutritious food.”
The Fourth fellow claims to talk the science of prediction. Sachchidananda Babu, a Bengaluru-based astrologer, said on a TV show that zodiac signs predict how women might get sexually abused. He had said “if a girl belongs to the zodiac sign Virgo, there is a good chance that the girl will be raped between the ages of 14 and 20, under the staircase of her house!” For Aries, he said, "While you are being raped, hold the paper that has the protection mantra inscribed tightly."
The fifth one is from foreign developed lands on the issue of rape and the legitimacy of it. US senate candidate Todd Akin notoriously said in 2012, "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."
