Walayar case minor girls sexual abuse suspect found dead

The Walayar case turned even murkier after a youth, who was interrogated by the police in connection with the death of two minor sisters, was found dead on Tuesday.

Praveen, 25, was found hanging from a tree near his locality at Attappalam, less than a km away from the girls' house. He had been summoned by the police thrice in connection with the case. The probe team had considered the youth a suspect and believe that he could have committed suicide. However, they refused to rule out foul play in the death.

Seven persons have been arrested so far in connection with the case, where two minor girls were found dead.

The siblings were found hanging in their single-room house at Attappalam within a period of 52 days. The elder sister, 13, was found dead on January 13, while the nine-year-old younger sister was also found hanging at the same place on March 4. Post-mortem reports had confirmed that both girls were sexually abused.
